All School fees must be paid in advance and not later than 20th of the month unless notified otherwise in the School Calendar. Those who fail to do so, will be charged a fine of Rs. 5/- and are liable to have their names struck off the roll. Fees for May are to be paid in April. S.S.C. Students have to settle their dues, including May before the Preliminary Examination. Pupils will not be allowed to appear for the Examinations or Tests unless all their fees are paid till date. Deserving students may apply for a fee concession. The Management also gives one full freeship in memory of Shree Bapalal Dandwala.

All School fees of Std K. G. to VII are payable at the Central Bank of India, St. Xavier’s School Road Branch only, on presentation of the Fee Book. In exceptional cases, the Principal may permit payment of fees at the School Treasurer’s Office. Std. VIII to XII, however, have to pay at the Treasurer’s office.

Rules of Discipline

Refinement of manners, habits of obedience and order, neatness in person and dress, and punctuality are required at all times.

It is mandatory that all students refrain from any kind of birthday celebration. That includes – no free dress and no distribution of gifts or sweets of any kind.

During working hours, order and silence are to be maintained on the premises. Running, playing or shouting inside the School building is not allowed. • Students cannot move out of the class without permit card

Books or any other material, other than that prescribed by the school authorities, should not be brought to school. This also applies to electronic gadgets like mobiles, i-pods, cameras etc. In case of violation of this rule, the gadget will be confiscated and not returned.

Gathering of signatures to bring pressure on the authorities is strictly prohibited. Previous sanction of the Principal is needed for any organized school activity.

The School is not responsible for the loss of students’ books, money, clothes, etc. Students must look after their own belongings. It is advisable for them not to bring valuable articles to School

Any kind of damage done to the school property is to be made good

“Pink” and “Grey” Cards may be issued for any serious or habitual breach of discipline. The cards have to be signed by the student’s parents or guardians. A student who comes late to school four times in a term will be issued a “Pink” Card.

Mehendi application requires prior permission from the Principal.

Attendance & Leave

As regular attendance is an important element for successful work, a previous written application for leave must be handed in case of illness; In the case of unforeseen circumstances, the student, on returning to School must have the reason of absence certified by the parent or guardian and countersigned by the Class Teacher before he/she enters the class. Applications for leave should be briefly written in the School Calendar alongside the corresponding date of absence.

Absence without leave is penalised with a fine or with any other form of punishment at the Principal’s discretion, and if a student is absent for 15 days without leave, his/her name may be removed from the class rolls and the usual admission fee will be charged if he/she is readmitted.

100% attendance is compulsory for students to be able to appear in any exmination. In case of any serious reason like illness etc..the principal at his descretion may consider only up to 15%. No student may absent himself/ herself from any examination or test except when prevented by reason of health, in which case a medical certificate is required.

100% attendance is required for students std. 6th to 12th on 15th August and 26th January

Medical certificate with leave note countersigned by the Principal is mandatory in case of absense of more than 3 days.

Home Study & Patental Co-Operation

Parents will readily understand that a good amount of study and serious home study is required for success. So they will see that at least four hours of study are put in by the students of Stds. VIII-X and an hour less for students of lower classes. Private tuitions is discouraged and should be resorted to only after consulting the Principal. No teacher will be allowed to tutor his/her own students, nor students of standards or classes where he/she teaches.

Reports of a student's conduct and progress will be given from time to time in the School Calendar. Parents are expected to make note of these reports, as also of the Examination results and to confer with the teachers and the Principal occasionally. Parents/Guardians may meet the staff in their free periods or on Saturdays in the first period i.e.

during Mass-drill time or by previous appointment. When parents inquire or write concerning their wards they should mention the standard and the particular section in which they study at present.

Examination & Promotion

Examinations are held on the days indicated in the calendar. Though the corrected answer booklets may under no circumstances be taken home, parents are welcome to look them over in School on the day mentioned in the calendar.

For Stds. 9 & 10, the promotion is based on Formative + Summative Asessment. Std. 9: F1, F2, F3, F4 = 40 MKS SA1 + SA2 = 60 MKS ---- 100 Std. 10: F1, F2, F3, F4, SA1, SA2 = 30 MKS Board Exam 70% of 100 MKS = 70 MKS ---- 100

For Std. 11 Science & Commerce, three term examinations are held on the days indicated in the calendar.

Classwork and internal marking: Classwork which consists of oral work, written work previously prepared at home and class tests will be taken into consideration for the examination and promotion.

The criteria for passing in each subject is 33 percent. Promotion will be decided on the Final Report. This includes average of all the examinations and internal marks.Promotions are based on the school promotion rules approved by the educational authorities.

Tradition

• To respect the library and the rights of other students using them.
• To respect the beauty and cleanliness of the premises and to report any damage which we may observe.
• To avoid dropping papers in the school premises and to pick up any such papers dropped by others.
• To learn and observe good manners in School and outside. Tradition is a little thing in itself, and cannot be enforced since this would destroy its value. The desire to observe it must come from within and must be genuine; only thus can one's character be formed.

  St. Xavier’s is a High School for Boys,[from June 2006 progressively becoming co-ed, from the K.G. The Girls has reached in 8th Std in 2014-2015.
